There was a farmer who collected horses; he only needed one more breed to complete his collection. One day, he found out that his neighbor had the particular horse breed he needed. So, he constantly bothered his neighbor until he sold it to him. A month later, the horse became ill and he called the veterinarian, who said:
- Well, your horse has a virus. He must take this medicine for three days. I'll come back on the 3rd day and if he's not better, we're going to have to put him down.
Nearby, the pig listened closely to their conversation.
The next day, they gave him the medicine and left. The pig approached the horse and said:
- Be strong, my friend. Get up or else they're going to put you to sleep!
On the second day, they gave him the medicine and left. The pig came back and said:
- Come on buddy, get up or else you're going to die! Come on, I'll help you get up. Let's go! One, two, three...
On the third day, they came to give him the medicine and the vet said:
- Unfortunately, we're going to have to put him down tomorrow. Otherwise, the virus might spread and infect the other horses.
After they left, the pig approached the horse and said:
- Listen pal, it's now or never! Get up, come on! Have courage! Come on! Get up! Get up! That's it, slowly! Great! Come on, one, two, three... Good, good. Now faster, come on.... Fantastic! Run, run more! Yes! Yay! Yes! You did it, you're a champion!!!
All of a sudden, the owner came back, saw the horse running in the field and began shouting:
- It's a miracle! My horse is cured. This deserves a party. Let's kill the pig!
Points for reflection: this often happens in the workplace. Nobody truly knows which employee actually deserves the merit of success, or who's actually contributing the necessary support to make things happen

“Hello Sir. Why are you standing outside my house? Do you need any help?”
He smiled at her. She liked him at the first look. All this time, she had just seen a glimpse of him. He had broad shoulders and a dimple on his right chin. He was six feet tall and she guessed he might be in his late twenties.
“Hi Pooja! I am Aravind! It’s already late. You go and sleep.”
“How do you know my name? I am already confused with lots of things happening around me and you...”
Before she finished, Aravind continued, “Pooja, I thought of talking to you once the investigation gets over. Until then I will guard you when you are alone.”
Pooja was surprised. Someone is guarding her and he had known about her parents’ death and
“May be he would know something more than what she had known”. She immediately spoke to him.
“Aravind, how do you think I can trust you?” Pooja said.
Aravind pulled out a paper from his pocket and showed it to her, it was her dad’s handwriting!
Dear Aravind,
We have discussed everything over the phone. I want you to guard my daughter whenever she is alone. It is just a request. Since you stay near her college I want this help from you. I am afraid if that guy will cause problems to my daughter. It will disturb her education. I want her to concentrate on studies.
Aravind, I believe in you. Being my best friend’s son I am relying on you. Please guard her whenever she is alone. I do understand that you have your priorities and work; this is just a request.
I will soon find out a way to get rid of that guy and save her life.
Regards,
Gautham
She could see her dad’s neat handwriting. A drop of tear fell on the name Gawtham.
Aravind spoke, “Pooja, your dad told me to take care of you. I am unaware of who killed him. But he mentioned to me that there was a guy who kept talking to him about you and he wanted to marry you. He did not like his attitude. This guy has threatened your dad that he will kidnap you and torture you to marry him and finally your dad will have to accept for wedding.”
Pooja could not believe that her dad appointed someone to take care of her and to guard her. Also there was a cruel person who might have killed her parents.
Aravind said softly, “Pooja, we will find out who killed your parents. If it is that psycho guy we will find out soon. Now you go and sleep. Trust me Pooja”
She knew she had to trust him. She never believed love at first sight philosophy, but today she had to. She liked him on his first sight.
“Are you a police or a Detective agent or..?” Aravind laughed and said
“Nope! I am taking care of my dad’s business. Your dad’s company is one of our lead Suppliers so that’s how I knew your dad.”
They had a good conversations and Aravind too accepted to stay with her that night. They were talking the whole night. Pooja learnt that he had the same likings as she does. She wondered if he too felt the same.
“Why should he take care of her? He could have said no to her father. May be he too liked her”
She wished that this silent admirer will be her lifelong admirer!
